Reflection:

The article “When It’s This Hot, ‘We Are Enduring, Not Living’” by journalist Zia ur-Rehman  describes the grueling heat in Pakistan by following Shahbaz Ali’s struggle with the relentlessly high temperatures, which went up to 106 for the heat index during the time the reporter was with him. The article describes how the high temperatures are also unrelenting at nighttime, adding to the heat along with the water shortages. Ali’s family is dependent on his income as a motorcycle driver who hails rides, which is a job that only exacerbates the effect of the burning heat, according to the article.

This article is so devastating. There are so many people going through the struggle of this packed, humid atmosphere. I just wish everyone had access to fresh, clean air. How come we can’t even provide that? Why is the world so unfair?
