Reflection:

In the BBC article “Gas plant 'ideal' to make hydrogen and capture CO2” journalists Louise Parry and Paul Moseley describe capturing carbon, a method where extra carbon dioxide is stored (CCS) in a reservoir space. CCS critics include environmentalists who are concerned about the lasting fossil fuel usage that can result from CCS. In contrast, those who support CCS state that supporting this method will eventually support the environment by helping reduce emissions, along with the possibility of applying hydrogen instead of gas as an energy source.

I find this article interesting because it shows how something that seems to be environmentally friendly at first may be met with opposition from environmental groups. In general, I think it’s so easy to oversimplify or overgeneralize and I’m scared that that is becoming more of a norm lately across society. How is the dialogue between the critics of the CCS and its supporters?
