Reflection:
In the article “Trump's New Way to Kill Regulations: Because I Say So,” journalists Lisa Friedman and Brad Plumer discuss recent executive orders from the federal government and break down their feasibility and implications for the future. The article describes how the orders are directly challenged by large legal obstacles and walks back on the long-standing precedent of the regulatory process, which involves extensive feedback from the public and helps keep the government in check while serving the people.
The last graf of this article struck me most because it reflects that idea of contradiction and provides a kind of window-like peek into the possibility of collaboration. I just wish more people across all the political spectrums really recognized this. Think about it — if we don’t collaborate, what will even come out of our nation? Would true progress be even possible without collaboration? Isn’t remaining self-centered and not being open-minded to this collaboration creating a recipe for setback since it’s only pushing the core issue(s) back farther?
