Reflection:

In the article “The U.S. Is Behind in the Competition for the ‘Oil’ of the 21st Century by Farah Stockman, the journalist argues that, in order to expand America’s access to technological chips, the nation must take several factors into account. According to Stockman, Taiwan produces 92% of advanced chips while South Korea produces the remaining 8%. While the U.S. needs people experienced with actually constructing the chips, more are comfortable with designing them instead. For these chips are crucial to technological development, competition, and the economy, Stockman writes, the nation must bring more foreign students. Currently, the U.K. offers a 2-3 year visa for foreign students from top prestigious schools without requiring a company sponsor. In semiconductor career expos, an ideal opportunity to spread employment interest, Australian officers “actively promote their global talent visa program” (Stockman 18).

The world is competitive. This is where education comes to play. By a more elaborate resume, chances of being hired to a more affluent job increases. In order to obtain that resume, studying and effort investment is necessary. I must, and will, put in my best effort.
